Maine Insurance Regulations

In Maine, a lapsed policy may be reinstated:

  1. within 1 year of policy lapse
  2. up to 90 days after the grace period expires

The payor benefit rider is generally used with juvenile policies, providing that premium payments will be waived if the parent, who is paying for the policy, dies or becomes disabled before the insured reaches the age specified in the policy.

If a policy lapses, Maine insurance law allows the policy owner may apply to have the policy reinstated.
