Louisiana Life & Health Exam Questions

Zack died during the annuity stage. The amount paid to Zack prior to his death was less than cash value of the annuity on the day of annuitization. Zack’s beneficiary continued to receive annuity payments until that amount was reached. Zack owned a:

  1. Guaranteed annuity
  2. Refund annuity

Louisiana Insurance Regulations

In Louisiana, a lapsed policy may be reinstated:

  1. within 1 year of policy lapse
  2. up to 90 days after the grace period expires
  3. never
  4. within 3 years of policy lapse

Part E describes and identifies the duties of the insured in the event that a loss occurs. These duties include:

  • Notify the insurer as soon as reasonably possible after a loss occurs
  • Cooperate with the insured in the investigation of a claim
  • Submit to physical exams if requested
  • Authorize the insurer to obtain medical reports or other pertinent records
  • Submit a written proof of loss when requested
    •

    Answer: B

    The refund payout option is the most conservative and accordingly has the lowest payments. Should the annuitant die prior to receiving annuity payments at least equal to the cash value of the contract on the day of annuitization, the balance will be paid to the annuitant's designated beneficiary.

    If a policy lapses, Louisiana insurance law allows the policy owner may apply to have the policy reinstated. The insured must provide evidence of insurability; and pay past-due premiums, any outstanding policy loans, and interest on the outstanding loan and past-due premiums. Reinstatement must be applied for within 3 years.
